Jose G. Tello

Born and raised in Peru, I came to the United States in 1993.  I have been interested in natural science since my childhood, where I used to enjoy watching nature around my hometown in Lima.

I got a B.Sc. in Biology (1992) from the Universidad Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru; then move to the United States to study a M.Sc. in Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (1996) and a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution at the University of Illinois at Chicago (2004).  After finishing my doctorate studies, I move to New York to work at the American Museum of Natural History as a Chapman Postdoctoral Fellow. In 2008, I started to work as an assistant professor of Biology at Long Island Univeristy in Brooklyn, New York.
